H.E. Mr. Radu Octavian Dobre,

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of India





CURRICULUM VITAE                             

Mr. Radu Dobre was born in Bucharest, on the 2nd of June 1970. He graduated the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Political Science. During the last 15 years, he followed a large number of seminaries and courses on EU policies, especially on Justice and Home Affairs and crisis management.

He begun its professional career as journalist, in 1990, specialized in international relations. He published a large number of articles on international relations for the newspapers “Jurnal international”, “Evenimentul zilei”, “Tinerama”, “Actualitatea” and “Curentul”. For the last two publications, he was the head of the International Department. Mr. Dobre also worked as editor for “Radio Romania International”. In 1999, he was selected to work in the Ministry of Interior as Deputy Director of the Department for International Relations and EU Integration, dealing mainly with EU affairs. In 2002, Mr. Dobre joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, working in different positions as follows:

-  Second Secretary within the EU Department (2002);

- Diplomat in charge of EU affairs at the Romanian Embassy in Athens during the Hellenic Presidency of the EU – (2003);

- Second Secretary at the Romanian Representation to the EU      (2004-2006), dealing with Crisis Management, Visas, Consular Cooperation and Terrorism;

- Deputy Director General of the Consular Department (2006-2007), in charge with EU affairs;

- Head of the Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2008)

- Consul General of Romania in Triest – Italy (2008 - 2012).

In 2013, Mr. Radu Dobre was appointed Chargé d’Affairs a.i. at the Romanian Embassy in New Delhi – India.

Mr. Radu Dobre is member of the “EURISC” Foundation since 1996. In this capacity, he participated in projects on security sector reform with prestigious universities from Western Europe. Since 2007, he is also member of the “Alexandru Ioan I” Foundation, with focus on cultural activities.

Mr. Dobre is married and has a daughter. He is fluent in English, French, and Italian.
